Our Story

From one VPN app to an all-in-one cybersecurity app

VeePN was founded on March 6, 2017, with a clear goal: make online privacy and security easier to use without requiring technical expertise. What started as a VPN app has gradually evolved into a broader ecosystem of tools designed to protect users' connections, personal information, and everyday online activity.

• 2017 | The beginning VeePN launched its first Android app in June, followed by the website and iOS app in July, marking the beginning of VeePN as a multi-platform VPN service.
• 2018 - 2019 | Expanding across devices VeePN moved beyond mobile with the Windows app in October 2018. Throughout 2019, support expanded to Chrome and Firefox, Android TV, Amazon Fire Stick, and macOS, making VeePN available across the devices people use every day.
• 2021 | Independent security audit Independent security firm Cure53 conducted an audit of the VeePN browser extensions. The full report is publicly available in our blog.
• 2024 - 2025 | Building a broader privacy ecosystem VeePN expanded beyond traditional VPN protection with new privacy-focused services. In 2024, Breach Alert was introduced to help users discover whether their personal information had appeared in known data breaches, followed by Alternative ID, which provides an extra layer of privacy when sharing personal details online.
• 2025 | Temporary SMS In 2025, VeePN launched Temporary SMS, a free web-based service that allows users to receive SMS messages using temporary phone numbers without exposing their personal number.
• 2026 | Expanding free online tools VeePN continued growing its ecosystem with a new collection of free online tools. Link Checker helps users verify suspicious URLs before opening them, while File Checker scans files for potential threats before they are downloaded or shared. The same year, VeePN introduced Is It Down, a service that lets users quickly check the status of popular websites and online services.
• Today | More than a VPN Today, VeePN is more than a VPN service. It combines secure connectivity with privacy and security tools designed to help people protect their data, identity, and digital life across devices and online services.
